Top Gear's list five sports cars

1) Porsche Cayman£39,694, 275bhp, 213lb ft, 0-62mph 5.7secs, vmax 165mph, 34.4mpg, CO2 192g/km
New Cayman is quite probably the most engaging all-round sportscar package available. And that includes big brother 911. If you can afford it, buy the S.

2) Jaguar F-Type£58,520, 335bhp, 332lb ft, 0-62mph 5.1secs, vmax 161mph, 31.4mpg, CO2 209g/km
The cheapest F – the V6 – is a lovely thing, but stump up another £8k and you can have the V6S, which is the one to have. The V8S is just a bit OTT.

3) Porsche 911£73,068, 350bhp, 287lb ft, 0-62mph 4.8secs, vmax 197mph, 31.4mpg, CO2 213g/km
The best day-to-day sportscar if you need four (2+2-ish), but make sure you can’t manage with baby brother Cayman for £30k less…

4) Nissan GT-R£74,480, 550bhp, 466lb ft, 0-62mph 2.8secs, vmax 195mph, 24mpg, CO2 275g/km
A paragon of brutal go-faster efficiency, the GT-R remains in a class of its own. Not to everyone’s taste, but you can’t argue with the results.

5) Lotus Evora£51,550, 276bhp, 258lb ft, 0-62mph 4.9secs, vmax 162mph, 30.3mpg, CO2 217g/km
Superlative chassis and steering, but lacks the refinement and usability of rivals. The ‘S’ is the one to have, but costs £10k more. If you can find one…
